Shopping

For the last month, I have been taking a survey on how people shop, and it amazes me that people take more pride in how they dress their bodies on the outside, then what they feed their bodies on the inside.

For example, I took a visit to a clothing store, and I watched people take their time going through racks of clothing, trying to find that perfect outfit to buy. But, when I visited the grocery store, lots of people just grab items off the shelves and threw them in their carts. Of course, I took a peek in some of the carts, and the carts were loaded with nothing but processed foods, sugary drinks and plenty of junk foods.

Very few people read the labels on what they were purchasing, but in the clothing stores, people read the labels (who made it, which fabrics and how to care for the item).

The question is, shouldn't our #1 priority be to first, buy the best foods that go into our bodies, and secondly, what goes on the outside of our bodies?

People say buying healthy foods are too expensive, yet they spend hundreds of dollars on named-brand clothing.

I say, let's start making a conscious decision to treat the inside of our bodies grand just like we do the outside of our bodies. Let's start reading the labels on food products and stop eating so much processed foods. Let's nourish our bodies with more fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains and water. We only live once, so let's preserve our bodies as long as we can. What are your thoughts on this subject? Please comment.

The ipad

I totally have changed my mind about getting an ipad. If my cousin, Marvy, loves it, I know it's good because she's a busy business woman and anything to make her life simple, she's for it. I know when I visit her, she'll enlighten me on all the cool things that I can use it for as well. It's great to have a cousin that has your back.

In the meantime, I went back to Best Buy and one of the employees happened to have his personal ipad with him. He uses it mostly for school(Textbooks).

One feature I did like is that you can dimmed the light when reading a book. And, you can download the Nook and Kindle Apps on it. But, since I have a Kindle, I'll still use it for reading because like I said in my previous blog, it's comfortable to hold. I have small hands.

Another thing I like about the ipad is that I can browse the internet faster and when I'm traveling I can do documents on it. As a writer this is a big help.

Also, the employee showed me some of the cool accessories that can be purchased for the ipad: keyboards, covers, stands, etc.

Now, I did hear rumors that a new ipad is coming soon with a built-in camera. I'll try to hold out until May and see whether it becomes available. If not, I'll settle for the ones already on the market.

I love collecting gift cards for purchases I want. I get a kick out of watching the cashier swipe all my gift cards. Sometimes my gift cards cover the total bill. If I have to spend any money, it's usually less than $100.

I've already started my collection of gift cards. My birthday is coming soon, so my family already knows, "Best Buy or Visa Gift Cards."

If you're a lover of electronics as I am, check out the ipad at: www.apple.com. If you're an owner of an ipad, please share how it has made your life simple.

Ereaders

I finally got me an ereader. Which one? The Amazon Kindle. Here's what I went through to come to the conclusion to buy the Kindle. See I was excite about getting my hands on the ipad but after visiting Best Buy, I was so disappointed. It's a true saying, that everything isn't for everyone. I got a chance to have a hand on experience with the ipad. It was a little too large and heavy in weight for my small hands. Also, I have a weak wrist. I hope in the future they come out with a smaller Ipad, light in weight. Lot of the features was the same as my Iphone. Next, it was on to the Sony Reader. I decided this would be the one I would buy. The Sony didn't let me download books from anywhere. I would have to connect to a computer. I could have gotten the Sony Daily Reader Daily Edition but I don't want to be bother with having to clean fingerprints like I have to do with my iphone. Last stop was Target to check out the Kindle. As soon as I pick up the Kindle it felt comfortable in my hands. The screen gave me the look of pages of a book and it was easy on my eyes. No glare. And I like that it has text to speech. I can download audio books on it. This ereader gave me the most feeling of reading an actual book. I knew right away the Kindle was for me at this time. Also, I can read my documents on it if I so desire. It has a dictionary and a place for notes. I don't usually read in the dark but if I need a little light I can always use my handy little book light. Will this take the place of me buying books? ASOLUTELY NOT! It's nothing like going to a Bookstore or a Booksigning. Browsing the bookshelves and holding a book in my hands is the best. The Kindle will be convenient for travels.

If you're in the market for an ereader get the one that is best for you. Go shopping and experience each ereader you might be interested in. Do you have a ereader? If yes, which one works for you?

I love revisions

Writing is my time to relax, but doing revisions is my time to have fun.

I treat my manuscript like a word puzzle. As I read it out loud, I'm searching for everything that doesn't flow with the story. A red pen is my handy tool. I get rid of words that are unnecessary, and at times, I move around sentences and paragraphs. If necessary, a character may have to go.

I'm never attached to my words, much less my characters. What doesn't work, I can always save it for another story.

Please comment on your thoughts about revisions.

Buffets can equal to stomach aches

About a week or so ago I went to a restaurant (buffet style). The food tasted okay, but little did I know by the middle of the night, the food had me nausea. I couldn't sleep. Everything I ate, left me quick. All I could do is crawl back in bed.

The next day I stayed in bed with a weak feeling in my stomach. My meal was sipping on tea and broth.

I went to the doctor. I had food poison. Be careful of certain foods when eating at buffets. Especially things with mayonnaise, fish, noodles and poultry. You never know how long the food has been sitting out. I learned for now on I will ask how long each item I eat has been sitting out. Better to ask then suffer terribly. Have you ever been food poison? Please comment below.

Rainy Day

The day has been cold and rainy. I stayed indoors. I caught up on laundry and other things around the house. Instead of playing music while I worked, I brainstormed about the next chapter of the story I'm revising.

I'm doing my best to stay focus on my goals. But fighting off distractions can be a challenge for me.

How do you deal with distractions, when working on a project or towards a goal? Please comment.

New Year

It's 2010, and I'm posting my first blog. This is the year for me to reflect on the last 15 years of my journey into the world of writing. Let me say, never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd become a writer. I was just on a mission to learn how to relax.I guess that's one of the reasons why I call myself, miraclewriter4u.

As a kid, I made up stories in my head just for the heck of it. Never thinking to write them down.

Well, one day during my search for something to do to relax, I created in my head a story called, Mama, Why?. It was a story I wanted to keep, so I started putting my thoughts on paper. It was so relaxing. I caught the writing bug.

Writing has gotten me through many down times in my life. It has given me the opportunity to meet many great writers and readers.

My relaxation writing times has produced a few manuscripts. I love writing fiction (family sagas).

I've self published two children books during this journey, Isra the Butterfly and Chicken Wing.

I feel it's time for me to revisit my stories and complete them, starting with my first manuscript, Mama, Why? Doing revisions will be like doing word puzzles. It's fun.

Is there something you've started that you need to complete? Please feel free to comment.
